About

A reader for drawn bathymetry

ensoundings turns a vector sounding chart back into the point data it was plotted from. It reads the drawing directly — the placed depth figures and the marks beneath them, drawn as geometry or carried as text — and returns each sounding as a coordinate, a depth and a confidence value. No image recognition, no OCR, no tracing.

Why it exists

The data was always in the file

A modern sounding chart exported from CAD or GIS still carries its depths as real text and real geometry. Re-keying them by hand, or running a raster through OCR, throws that structure away and adds error. Reading the file itself keeps the numbers exactly as they were drawn and records how certain each reading is.

How we handle your drawing

The source file is never stored

Your PDF is processed in memory and discarded the moment extraction finishes. It is never written to our storage and never leaves the pipeline. Only the extracted point data is kept, so you can re-download your conversions for eighteen months.

What it is not

Derived data, not a survey

An extracted dataset is only ever as accurate as the drawing it came from. It is intended for tender estimation and verification, and must be checked by a licensed professional surveyor before any field use. It is not a certified hydrographic product and not for navigation.

How it is priced

One conversion, one charge

Upload, extraction and the full review are free and need no account. You pay $75 only when you export a result. Refused files, failed reads and re-downloads cost nothing.

Vector sounding PDFs only. Scanned raster images, flattened bitmaps, paper charts, and OCR/AI-read charts are not supported.

For Tender Estimation & Verification Only. Extracted datasets are not certified hydrographic products and must be verified by a licensed professional surveyor prior to field operations.
